Psychotherapy offers help with more complex and recurrent difficulties that are not suitable for treatment using brief interventions. Often these difficulties have developed over many years, meaning that it can take more time and personal commitment to achieve lasting change. This often sensitive and sometimes painful work requires the establishment of a confidential and trusting relationship between client and therapist.
Psychotherapists tend to be less interested in categorising and measuring people’s difficulties and prefer to work with more complex issues such as confusion about one’s identity, recurrent difficulties in relationships, difficulties in finding a sense of meaning or purpose in life or coming to terms with more serious traumas or losses in early life.
Our therapists are either accredited members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or registered members of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and have at least ten years experience. Supported by a professional team, therapists work from the comfortable and secure environment of Lily House.
Please note that we do not offer a private service for cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and do not directly invoice health insurance companies or other third parties. We also do not respond to queries from third parties.
